In the barracks the boisterous youth is instructed to become keen fighters. Your soldiers know how to handle swords, spears and catapults and are also able to lead the mightiest war machines safely over the field. The troops are instructed faster when you expand your barracks.

[edit] Expansion Details
- Please Note:
- There are some researches that help to reduce the building materials (wood, marble, sulphur, crystal glass, and wine) needed to build this building and they are cumulative: Pulley research reduces them by 2%, Geometry another 4% (6% total) and Spirit Level another 8% (14% total).
- The research bonuses are shown separately in the following chart.
These bonuses are also shown by hovering your mouse over the individual resource numbers in the chart (Pulley = 2% total, Geometry = 6% total and Spirit Level = 14% total). - There are also a variety of buildings that reduce the amount of resources required for each building: the Carpenter (wood), Architect's office (marble), Firework test area (sulphur), Optician (crystal glass), and Wine press (wine).
- Each type of land unit has a Minimum Barracks Level: only Barracks which have been upgraded to that level or higher can build that unit. Upgrades above the Minimum level for that unit will significantly reduce the time to build that unit, until the Optimum Barracks Level for that unit is reached. Further Barracks upgrades will reduce the build time by only 3.976721629 or 3.98% per upgrade...

[edit] Training Times
This table lists training times for each unit as a function of barracks level. Sub-optimal barracks levels (where an increase will substantially reduce build times) are given in bold.
[edit] Ship Capacity
Up to version 2.8, each unit took up 1 cargo space. So 300 slingers were occupying the same space as 300 Steam Giants on a ship. They've added a cargo value to units in 3.0, so larger units now take up more space. Consequently a larger number of smaller units will be able to be fitted on a ship compared to larger units.
