This is a technical specifications page on the mechanics, bugs, and usage notes of combat including: Naval combat and blockades, ground attacks, wall breaching, effects of spies in combat, travel mechanics, alliance-group attacks and other treaty attacks, as well as defense, exceptions, and bugs.
Draft needed for 0.3.2 (Combat all changed; Spies cannot breach walls; etc.)
[edit] Ground Attacks
A ground attack may be performed either of two ways: attacking a town from the same island, and sending troops in Cargo Ships to another island to attack a town.
[edit] Same Island Attacks
Coming soon. The army can get there on foot, but the loot... The amount of loot you can carry away depends on the number of cargo ships you assign to the mission. If you send a single ship, you can carry away a maximum of 500 resources. With 10 ships you get 5000 resources (potentially).
[edit] Overseas Attacks
In order to perform a ground attack on a town of a different island, there must not be any defending naval troops in the town, either the town's native navy or a blockade from another attacker. The exception is when there is a blockade in place from an attacker which is part of the same alliance or if there is a Military treaty between the two attacking parties. As with same island attacks, you need cargo ships to carry away the loot. The more cargo ships you assign to the mission, the more you can potentially plunder.
More to Come.
[edit] Wall Breaching
Otherwise known as siege or "opening the gates."
[edit] Defeat
A defeated army or fleet will scatter (and be reported as "missing") for 4 hours before regrouping. Take this into account if you send a looting detail in after defeating a city's defenders.
