[edit] Well Digging

The well digging does not finish in 1 second with a level 3 academy. It may have worked out that way for someone, but it was a specific circumstance. There is an exploit that makes science research instant, but you shouldn't advocate it. I think people have gotten removed from the org server for abusing it. --128.101.142.157 21:08, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Total Score

Anyone know what exactly the areas in highscore calculate?

What does total score refers to?

I just know Master Builders = sim city —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.218.90.43 (talkcontribs)

I know that:
Building Levels=sum of the level of all your buildings
Levels of Research=4x the total number of techs researched
Gold=Self explanatory
Scientists= Sum of the research points produced, including all technologies already learned.
Generals=Sum of the score of different units (2 x cost of 40 wood = 80 for slingers, 2xWood+4xLuxury for each additional unit)128.101.142.157 21:08, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Total=some form of previous entries and then some, like population.

[edit] Lock only for Anon users?

This page still needs some work. For instance in the Technology section. Is there some way to unlock it for trusted registered users, but not for anonymous users? -- Image:Ecstatic_small.gif SkyeFeydark (talk · contr) 23:39, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

That's the way I thought I had the protection set. You can't get in?
Bloodhound 23:53, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
There's no Edit link for me. Only a "View Source" link at the top instead. -- Image:Ecstatic_small.gif SkyeFeydark (talk · contr) 05:24, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
alright, I'll remove it and hope I don't get more vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bloodhound (talkcontribs)

[edit] "See Also"

These links seem rather... simple. Redundant. However you want to put it. Building_now for instance. While it may be true someone may not associate a timer on the icon of the building (though they would be few and far between), this only relates to the user interface and I do not believe is necessary on the Guide - just clutters it up with pointless stubs. Such as Water_fountain. While it may be interesting trivia, I don't understand why it should be noted on what for most people will be the first important page they read on the wiki. I recently added a Pillaging link, as it was also removed from the Featured Articles on the main page. Could we perhaps add more useful "See Also" links and remove links to stubs which ought to be redundant information in the first place?

Of course now I see there's already a Pillaging link inline on the page. In any case. Eliria 05:11, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. I've done a quick attempts at making the "See Also" section a bit more relevant, as well as useful to beginners. Please add any other relevant links. -- Image:Ecstatic_small.gif SkyeFeydark (talk · contr) 17:56, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Warehouse

I don't agree with point 10 - if you're being attacked early on, mustering the resources for a warehouse that doesn't protect much anyways is just a waste. If it's just a few slingers, make a wall and a few of your own, and donate any wood when you're attacked. If you have luxery resources laying around in high enough quantities to be attacked, you should have a standing army. I feel like the warehouse is a bad plan for safekeeping of res - it's not big enough.

Arkanis 23:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually, about the only time a warehouse is useful in its role of protecting resources is at the start. A level 1 Warehouse protects 70 luxury and 140 wood resources -- that's more than the 50 luxury you get for learning Wealth. And 140 wood allows you to build your next few buildings: most early buildings are very cheap in resources. A level 3 Warehouse (cheap to build) protects 120 luxury resources! It's from here on out though that the amount protected becomes laughable... -- Image:Ecstatic_small.gif SkyeFeydark (talk · contr) 01:42, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I can't set wood production?

I could find nothing clickable in the town hall. If I go to island view and click on the woodpile near the middle I get the saw mill page. I found the slider bar and pushed it to the right, confirmed, then saw that I was now using 30 workers (as were several neighbours). The town hall now shows the same thing. My population used to show 43 (43) and now shows 13 (43). Is that what I was meant to do? Robin Patterson 12:07, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

No offers of help there. I worked out that that was the thing to do. I think the Guide oversimplifies. I still can't get anything to look clickable in the relevant part of the town hall display. Blame Firefox or something else? Anyway, I'm sure "go to island view and click on the woodpile" is the simpler way to go. Robin Patterson 05:30, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mention the four reporters?

I think the Guide should have a (or a more obvious) link to the pages that deal with the towns and military and research and diplomavy reports. A beginner should learn to look at most of them from time to time. Robin Patterson 12:32, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Advanced user guide

Ikariam can get to the point where you are waiting for things to happen, and as you grow this can become days, or even weeks. I've started an Advanced players guide aimed at those players who have built everything up, and are finding it a bit dull.

[edit] Needs a minor edit?

"Sulphur, Used when building troops and war ships. (Except Slinger, Doctor and Cook) " the diving boat does not need any sulphur,it uses glass instead...checked it on ikipedia and on the ships article Scorpianato 01:01, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
