[edit] Description

The most skilled men of our town serve at the workshop. They improve our troops and warships equipment with the latest inventions. May they become even better and stronger! Every stage of improvement allows you to get more upgrades for troops and ships.

[edit] Effects

The benefits of the workshop apply retroactively to all of your existing units and ships, as well as to those trained later. They also apply to all of your colonies, regardless of whether you have a workshop in that colony.

Workshop upgrades are applied correctly in combat as of Patch 0.2.5.

If the workshop is demolished, all the acquired upgrades will be kept. So when all upgrades have been made, the building becomes useless. Having more than one workshop built in your empire allows for simultaneous upgrades (one upgrade per workshop).

Level 24 is enough for all upgrades. Further expansion is unnecessary.
  1. A Soft cap is a maximum level that is shown in the in-game Help (Ikipedia) section of Gameforge's games. However, structures can be built to higher levels than what is shown until you reach the Hard cap.

[edit] Unit & Ship Upgrades

Each unit and ship can receive up to 3 damage upgrades, and 3 armor upgrades. The upgrades are noted with a bronze, silver, and gold sword or shield icons, although the upgrade names are generally noted as "bronze", "iron", and "steel."
